Energy Statements

Greenbox associates has extensive experience of writing energy statements to support planning applications. These can cover a range of conditions set by the planning authority :

  • Demonstrating the improvement of Dwelling Emission Rate (DER) over the basic requirements of Part L1A 2013. This can be achieved by improving building fabric or the application of appropriate low and zero carbon technologies
  • Showing improvements of Farbic Energy Efficiency (FEEs) over the basic requirements of Part L1A 2013
  • Showing a percentage contribution to energy use or carbon emission reduction from low and zero carbon technologies

Paragraph 55

Paragraph 55 of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) allows building in open countryside when a design is considered to be ‘architecturally truly outstanding or innovative.’ There have been on average only six approvals a year judged to fulfil the criteria of Paragraph 55 since its introduction to planning policy in 1997.
